The Berry Museum was established in 1970, the Museum moved to its
present premises in 1975,
and concentrates on memorabilia peculiar to the Berry-Coolangatta District; it has comprehensive information on a number of pioneering families.
The building was built in 1884/5 as an English, Scottish and Australasian Bank with manager's residence.
Designed by architect William Wilkinson Wardell in the Gothic style called "Scottish Baronial".
